Research, and some work done. Learning

Today I start my paper on a career in purchasing. This is what I was thinking the next logical step in my trade would be. I have looked into this last week, and may need to rethink this through a little before making some type of commitment.

It’s always a big step when thinking about something you’re going to put so much of your life into. I do not want to waste anything on something that won’t pay out with hard work. After all the time I have in industrial sales, I should work for something in that area. My feeling is that this is not the place to be in the future, and should look to something else.

My first stage of education, which could take up to a year or more, will be the required chasses for any Associate of Arts degree. I do have some time, and I need to think this out. One thing I know is that most chasses can be interchanged with various degrees. If I happen to pick something that is not one of the classes I’m taking or have taken, then I will have that as just some cross training.

I will see the counselor for some more advice as the year progresses. We already have the next semester in place with two classes from the required list for the Associate of Arts Degree.

Not doing bad in my English class; I have some B’s, and if I work hard should be able to continue with them unless this gets harder that I think. I’m able to complete all my work, and even have 16 hours in the lab. I learn a great deal from the lab. It helps me with all kinds of things.

Here is my last week’s assignment. It is a summary of monitoring in the work place. I have removed the double spacing to help with the reading. Also this is to make up for no post last week; I had to work on the weeking.

Summary on “Survey Finds Many Firms Monitor Staff”

In an article written by a staff reporter for The Boston Sunday Globe, in which they report that a study conducted by the American Management Association, companies by and large are aggressively monitoring our activities at work. Through electronic and other means, they can see most anything we do at work. The e-mail we read and write, the internet we use, and the input we put into the computer, they are all being monitored. Phones, video and computer time are all being seen in the work place. They say in this report “Your employer could be watching you.”
We can’t think that anything we do on a computer system these days cannot be seen. With all the problems with law suits and such, they cannot afford to drop their guard at all. Employees have been reprimanded, and even fired for improper use of company time. A company has a legal right to monitor and protect their interest on the job. You might not be aware of this fact, as a company doesn’t need to inform anybody of the monitoring. This will only become more common as time passes, companies will protect themselves in the interest of themselves and others with interest in the company.
In my opinion, a company or any organization has the right to do as it pleases to make sure their interests are protected. Employees have plotted against companies on the company system. They have conducted themselves in ways that could harm a company, and not give a second thought about it. The company computer has confidential information that cannot be compromised. I’m sure people have sent company confidential information to themselves or others before they leave the company to profit from later.
The need for a company to protect itself from lawsuits that could come from inappropriate e-mail or the downloading of internet related software is important. People have put games and screensavers on the system, and this is not in the interest of the company. What if they were to have something sexual on the screen when another employee was walking by? That alone would constitute sexual harassment.
I understand that people that are not doing something job related at the time will want to surf the internet, or e-mail others. And I don’t see a real problem with this, but they should be careful. Don’t abuse the system, and do the work that you’re paid to do. Companies aren’t out to get someone, just to get them. A company will invest time in training, and errors that new employees cost as they learn a new job. They do not go out and just hunt for people they don’t like.
