Book finished today,
Now that I’ve read Uncle Tom’s Cabin, I wanted to read more information on Harriett Beecher Stowe. It wasn’t hard; in fact it was kind of easy. I used Google books and found more information than I could read. I found a book on her, and another, Uncle Toms Cabin in Ruins. I just read the rebuttal to Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and it was quite interesting. As with most books, you go away thinking about it. This one makes you think about how it could possible be true.
On every issue in Uncle Toms Cabin, this book would not disclaim anything about the circumstances. It only tries to justify some of the most appalling acts I’ve ever read. I did think a lot about this book, and was thinking it was published as a kind of guise. Did they want you to think his rebutal was real? If this book was real then what a time to live, when people could openly say they do these kinds of things to a person.
